Experience
I am a recently retired elementary teacher with 20+ years of experience in grades K-4. I greatly enjoy working with students in these age brackets, and because of my experience, I can easily connect with children. I am also able to find gaps in a child's academic experience and then find ways to fill those gaps. Tutoring one on one allows more personal interaction and is fulfilling as a child begins to recognize his improvement, and as a result, more confidence in his abilities. It is a joy to see a child achieve success where he once was struggling. I have tutored students through the years as they have need extra help. I have also worked with a Japanese student for a period of 2 years, and enjoy working with ESL students. Currently I am working with two of my grandchildren in their homeschooling in the subjects of math and handwriting. In addition, I am giving them beginning piano lessons. Besides using piano books, I incorporate music games to help learn the notes. I want music to be an enjoyable experience.

Hobbies
Music has always been a large part of my life and I have always been involved in some form of music, from choir to piano and guitar. I took piano in high school and continued into college. I am thoroughly enjoying giving beginning piano lessons to my grandchildren and hope to find more new students with whom to share my love of music. In the summers I enjoy swimming and taking my grandchildren to swimming lessons. I enjoy other hobbies including sewing and photography.
